“the most capable system in the market for stereoscopic 3D finishing”
by Framestore’s Director of Technology Steve Prescott.
London, UK, 16 March 2010:
SGO will be showcasing the Mistika Post Production System and making some exciting announcements at their booth, SL4511, South Hall near the 3D Pavilion this year at NAB 2010 taking place 12 – 15 April 2010.
SGO will be unveiling Mistika Version 5.0 at NAB, revealing one of the most significant software releases to date, with a brand new interface for maximum user acceptability as well as a set of stunning new stereoscopic 3D and 2D tools.
Stereoscopic 3D is the buzzword again this year and SGO’s Mistika has been recognised as “the most capable system in the market for stereoscopic 3D finishing” according to Framestore’s Director of Technology Steve Prescott. Mistika has been taking London by storm, generating a great deal of excitement because of its 2D and 3D capability and speed.
British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) has chosen Mistika as a core system for their 3D channel launch and utilised Mistika’s stereoscopic finishing ability for their channel’s 3D cinema advert shown before Avatar. “SGO’s Mistika was the clear choice for Sky… Mistika fitted in perfectly with its open platform and has just worked from day one… The support provided by SGO has been excellent and we certainly would not have been able to produce the amount of diverse content so quickly without Mistika.” stated Sarah Cloutier, VFX Manager, Sky Creative.
Mistika also boasts an impressive 2D post production toolset with advanced editing, compositing, colour correcting and film restoration tools. Each of these interacts seamlessly with the next in a fluid interface and many work in real-time without any need for rendering, even at resolutions up to 4K. All of the main features of the system, including its mind-blowing stereoscopic 3D functionality and direct RED workflows, will be demonstrated at NAB this year by some of the industry’s most accomplished demo artists and experienced Mistika visual effects artists.
Apart from their own stand, there will also be an additional SGO presence at the Hewlett Packard booth (SL5220), which will include an eye-catching demonstration of the Mistika Post Production system, where the main advantages of combining a leading HP workstation with highly developed Mistika software, can be observed firsthand. For on-set work Mistika can also run on HP Laptops, providing scene-to-screen workflows.
The open architecture and open storage approach of Mistika also enables any third-party systems to have direct access to the system’s storage and files, providing for a truly ‘open’ workflow even between non-SGO products. This makes Mistika both effortless and beneficial to integrate into existing facilities. Internally, Mistika also uses open formats at the highest bit-depth quality, with true 16 bit floating point per channel processes, HDR and 8K+ resolution support. By utilising standard SAN technology, but with clever application development, Mistika makes the most of inherent SAN capabilities.
Another significant and exciting development, which will be announced in detail at NAB, is the launch of SGO US offices, one located in Florida and another to follow in California.
SGO is also in partnership with S3D and Projection Design (http://www.projectiondesign.com/), who will be providing rigs and projectors at the show.
To enjoy an exclusive viewing of the immense power of the software and to reserve a place, contact SGO at info@sgo.es for a private demonstration of one of the industry’s most advanced post production systems.
